The Alaska Dream Center will be addressing the need of vocational training through our 7,000 sq foot industrial training center which is currently under construction.
The building will enable us to train students in the areas of establishing direction and setting goals both immediate and future. The vocational training facility will house multiple work centers for the teaching of skills such as mechanics, welding, computers, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, woodworking, arts, and crafts. Daily scheduled classes will give students exposure to a variety of job related skills, allowing them to gain knowledge and experience in the areas they are most compatible in. Currently they are receiving valuable skills in the the area of construction as they are taking part in the construction process. At AKDC we believe a crucial part of restoring dreams for a successful future lies in developing self confidence and purpose through vocational training.
Currently the vocation training facility stands 50% complete. Essential to the completion of the building is foam insulation, electrical, plumbing, boiler system, siding, doors, ventilation system, lighting, septic, and drywall. The building has been built by a diverse group of people who have been giving of their time, wisdom, talent, and finances which has caused the AKDC VTC to become a reality.
